The Future of Neopoet - Part II - Sewage Treatment
If anyone believes I am a subtle person, we have a disagreement for the meaning of the word. So nothing here will be subtle. When I am speaking of behaviour, I will use no names. When I am speaking of a person, I will use names.
If I detail a behaviour I do not like and do not mention a names, I am not attacking a person I am stating how I feel about the behaviour. Yet, someone will still decide I am talking about them personally and will decide they must show me how smart and clever they are.
Unfortunately, they are rarely as smart or clever as their mommies have told them.
I write a lot of blogs. These blogs have an intended audience of one which is why I am glad they never appear in the stream. That other people read my ramblings is nice. That some decide they must attempt to cow me with their lack of intellectual ability is sad.
Let me put it another way. Some people decide they are smarter than I am. Fine. But if they are smarter than I am and can't do more than fabricated accusations and passive-aggressively insist they are superior, then the only thing they have proven is that they are not nearly as bright as they want folks to believe.
Me, I am nearly never the smartest person in the room. I am often the person least afraid of failure, however, and since I do not mind looking foolish in order to discover who has the best answer, people give me more credit than I deserve. And this is not self-deprecation. I'm a smart guy, but smart need not be smarter and if everything becomes a measure of the metaphorical penis, well, it's rather a waste of time.
I enjoy competition because in a rules based system, it's about whoever can master the rules best and apply them most efficiently and, after the competition is over, it's about realising that the competition was not a value judgement of the person, just a competition within a defined set of rules.
This can be organised sports, sparring, games, etc. The competition and excelling within the competition is fun but the first judgement is whether or not a person can overcome their fear of failure in order to compete. And since there can be only one winner, it's how you face defeat.
Do you congratulate the winner and deal with your individual disappointment or do you rant and rave and insist they must have cheated without identifying anything they have done, just hinting at secrets you know and alluding to undefined actions?
But life is not a competition. Life is a journey and we do not need to vanquish others in order to "win."
Which brings us into the current situation at Neopoet.
There is a lot of shit being spewed at Neopoet and the people doing the spewing, for all of our own good, we just need to realise they are much smarter than the rest of us, refuse to do anything other than complain and whine and mope and moan and tell everyone how mean are those who they do not like.
Thus we've moved from the cesspit that is unadulterated and unconsidered praise to the sewage treatment of confronting the moping of those who we have offended by the challenges to their fabrications.
Ah well, all in a days volunteering.
If I have offended you, please let me know so I can add your name to the bottom of this blog, that way you'll know I was talking about you directly.
You're welcome.
NOTE: the following line:
"But life is not a competition. Life is a journey and we do not need to vanquish others in order to "win.""
