Need help and advice on creating a website for my poetry and it's promotion.

I have been looking into creating a website to promote my poetry and writing. Is it ok to use a free website hoster such as google or should I pay for one? Which would look more professional? Does it matter? Also any advice, tips or suggestions of hosters or suggestions of any kind would be appreciated. Thanks
