Oh, Irony! Thy name is Poetry!
I'm not sure if this is going to end up a prose poem, a rant, a sermon or a blog--much ado about nothing. But
it's a thing about to be birthed. And it seems I am the *chosen one* to midwife it, so to speak.
Let's talk turkey.
What is poetry and what is not poetry? After all this is a poetry site. Or is it a depository for one's religiosity? (Remember
that and death are sure conversation stoppers, eventually.)
Now, I don't mind Jehovah's Witnesses knocking on my door once in a blue moon. But I sure as hell would mind them
knocking on my door 4, 5 times a day, or every time I open my door, there is one coming to greet me with *Do I know God?*.
This site is pretty much like that for me, lately. I try to pass this type of proselytizing that passes for poetry. And most of the
time pretty lousy poetry. Trouble is, it's difficult to maintain the *workshop* ideal that is behind the inception of Neopoet. If I
say something about the form, format , verbiage, etc. I might just have to interject some of my views which are hardly ever
consistent with that type of *poetry*.
So, unfortunately, imo, Neopoet is becoming a dumping ground for *woe is me, my life sucks*, or *your life wouldn't suck if
you believed/adhered to my religion and it's in.....chapter, line and verse*. Which is a cure worse than the illness. There is
a reason why we don't know everything... it's so that we can learn what we don't know.
And what most of those who need someone to die for their sins (yes, I'm talking about the Christianity that even Christ
would reject) don't know is that religion and reality TV is entertainment to keep the huddled masses from ever having to
think through things for themselves and actually try to create something of a heaven on earth. God forbid we should try
to figure out how the lineage of humanity evolved (passed down?) when there was only Eve, Adam and Cain...with no
other females around, and still we're not all related, brothers and sisters in the human lineage, birthed from the same
act of creation, quite probably the same God, if you believe there is only one God.
So thank you very much, I've had a taste of heaven on earth, it's called love. Without any extra additives, seasoning,
packaging or dilluting. And I love poetry. Coincidentally, it's the distillation of the beginning of the bible: In the beginning
was the word and the word was with God.... paraphrased.
And if you think this blog is about you, you may be right. Oh, and thank you for giving enough of us fodder to write good
enough poetry, speaking of irony......

p.s. To any Jehovah's Witnesses: the answer is yes, blissfully intimately.
