Today is ANZAC Day in Australia its a day for mourning the fallen in all Wars

they shall never grace the table
of their families at home
they shall never face the wind
or watch their breath turn cold

eyes where closed on Suvla bay
for our eternal hero's rest
the battle fought was bloody
but our diggers passed the test

in the thousands that were lost
on the morning of that day
floating in the ocean
was the blood of man I say

not just of one nation
or creed or religion are lost
but everyone on earth
has grief that brings a cost

so in the grace of sunlight
as sun-rays hit their tombs
let a minutes silence
fall gentle on the room

a sacrifice made that morning
as our diggers hit the shores
was paid in full by the blood,
that flowed along the shore

I look to the night sky
at the southern lights that cross
shedding tears for their courage
still falling for their loss

Lest We Forget
