Friendly reminders here and there
Some new members have asked me some questions as older one's have asked me also. Members that is about comments and I copied and pasted this here for all to read if they haven't allready done so. You can find the guidelines to this workshop at the right side of your page under Navigation and if you scroll down it will say Community Guidelines. There is a whole article but felt this one needed to be reminded in light of the holiday coming up and the constant barage of bantering on some of this subject matter that is not too appealing to the senses. We all feel a need to debate or critique but we are stepping over boundaries perhaps and not complying with rules here or people's feelings for that matter.
Neopoet is a workshop environment. You are not going to like every comment you get. This does not mean that you can take every little comment personally. If you hear your poem needs work, it's not an attack -- it's an opening to improve yourself as a writer. Comments, however, about a member's race, sex, sexual preference, RELIGION (or lack of religion), disability, or other PERSONAL, immutable status ARE NOT ALLOWED. Critique must be about the poem, not about the poet. If you do receive a comment that veers into the personal, report them to the AEC along with proof so that they may take appropriate action after an investigation. However, critique about poetry is certainly allowed and encouraged -- not everything you receive will be complementary, though hopefully all feedback you receive will suggest ways you can improve.
Nina says it best if you don't like it keep walking, or something like that, I have found myself getting frustrated with all the words of insult to others and the constant need to be right in everything that is said. You all know I like to write alot so I do tend to delve alot. It is my nature.
I could care less what anyone thinks of me since I know who I am. I am okay with that and how you feel but is it now time to move on. I have never attacked anyones beliefs in here and know it is a place you do not want to go with certain people anywhere for that matter, We are not allowed to discuss these things at work as you see it leads to arguments. Everyone has their own personal views of how they believe or even if they do not. That is everyone's right. I just made a comment on the format of a letter and Lord I started a holy war in here. Why is there wars over just this same subject? Does it always have to be/ And I guess I just asked a dumb question.
I do not feel it is any bit helpful in one's writing when another poet has an alternative motive in their comments that are rather abrasive and not critic on the poem but towards the poet. This is something that amazes me as we try to go further in our writings.
Then again Magic knows that no one can control words of another so it is a waste of precious time to feed into a non intellectual discussion when it is of personal issues.
I know you all won't believe this but I can honestly say I can understand Puglist for his take in here and I understand how he is and how he feels as I see he also has been on the receiving end of alot of moronic nature.
Pugli if you read this you probably are saying bs and everything else but I am making an honest public viewpoint as I understand more now then I ever did. You are who you are and you give honest critique here I see and you also do mentor others with their poetry. As time goes on I am aware more now then before when I started of things and peoples opinions, we all have them and we all can agree to disagree at any given time.
It would be a great suggestion for Neopoet to offer a block on a member not just in private message but also on their own pages. It is like that in other sites and maybe someday they will do it here. The only other thing I can say on this is to click and ditch and not to get too involved with it any longer, the rough play that is, unless of course you like that stuff.. Wow have I learned alot since joining and still have much to learn ahead of me
Or I guess just letting it go might be the best way to put it. Unless of course it does veer into personal. Oh and by the way I know I like to write alot so that is why my blogs or responses are so long. That is just me.:)
