DESTROYED

 DESTROYED

Oh great tight knot

my heart is bound in braid,

the silky braid of heavy velvet curtains

swayed,

with beats of feelings stayed no longer free'd to blow

about the winds of fate,

how sealed, sated zeal becalmed,

the red of sails left flapping in the breeze

abandoned like the carcass of a whale

on foreign soil,

destroyed

and eaten dry

defeated,

sinews hang the rags of times white hands

that bleaches warmth and truth

reduced

to bland innocence,

uncouth,

nature her ways so beautiful yet cruel

her presence like the fuel of planets

driven,

where all that once was whole and light

is shrivelled up and leaden.

Now howl the theories of life's boon

through hollowed bones and fissures

the drum beats of doom,

their mellow thud on forms now turned to stone

here lies

what once was life,

so vigourous and free,

now left to rot,

so desolate,

alone.
