The problem: a rose plays a prominent role in a write. How does one describe a rose if one isn't much of a gardener?

As I myself have a "black thumb", I decided to read up on rose varieties, and here's what I found:

Famous quotes:

What's in a name? That which we call a rose/By any other word would smell as sweet. – William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet act II, sc. ii

Hearts starve as well as bodies; give us bread, but give us roses. - James Oppenheim, "Bread and Roses"

Rose is a rose is a rose is a rose. – Gertrude Stein, Sacred Emily (1913), a poem included in Geography and Plays.

and don't forget the Rose of Sharon ...
