mouth of the beast

mouth of the beast

i am the:  hinge in the mouth of the beast

lark who sings sweetly all day

grain of sand washed ashore again and again

fragrance of jasmine at night

curled toes of lovemaking

red sky at morning

red sky at night

nightshade of darkling woods

sweetness of clean water

afterburn of jet fuel

longest day of the year

warts on a toad

dust on my lampshade

myriad snowflakes falling

frost on your windows

destroyer of dawn

harbinger of dusk

fan that cools an August room

sheen of glazed tile under the moon

small stone which begins an avalanche

flake of dandruff on your shoulder

itch on your neck

empty glass waiting to be filled

grape waiting to be crushed

aged wine

aged one

crow who caws at noon

wolf at your door

deer standing silently under trees

glider that wafts on wind

green leaf in spring

stars waiting to be born

depth of oceans

box of china

phone that never rings

mountains and valleys

ship at sea

antique cabinet you bought for a buck

grass clippings on a summer lawn

red flower in vase's arrangement

flutist in the orchestra

cramp in your foot

quiet in corner of a closet

prerogative of midnight

child filling its life's vessel

grain in a black and white photo

rain in your hair

needle in a junkie's arm

clean towel after a shower

dust you've cleaned before

i am nothing and everything

i am hurtling towards infinity

while baking a cake

on a sunny day in Paris

avoiding mouth of the beast.
