The Gecko
I support the huge beams of your house,
Don't you know I keep eternal vigil? I raise
My tail, but sever it when attacked. I gambol
Make you happy with my dance. A symbol
Of omens when I speak. Gloss with my face
I myself am a camouflage, make you amaze
I cry when it is time to laugh and then seize
strongly what I hold. I laugh in anguish
And confuse those with attentive gaze.
I myself am a blood-sucking gecko.
The deep blue misleads me, I am gearless,
I live in futile expectation, always fearless,
I am a fraud with misleadingcolours,
Winds rave and make a music ferocious,
I can remain dormant, always out of sight,
I have scant regard to commonsense,
I have a scanty brain and a purse scanty,
I myself am canker-stricken, illusion led,
Puffs my thought to the breaking point,
A twenty-first century man I am, vain,
I think of me, my market,my life.
Don't you know I keep eternal vigil? I raise
My tail, but sever it when attacked. I gambol
Make you happy with my dance. A symbol
Of omens when I speak. Gloss with my face
I myself am a camouflage, make you amaze
I cry when it is time to laugh and then seize
strongly what I hold. I laugh in anguish
And confuse those with attentive gaze.
I myself am a blood-sucking gecko.
The deep blue misleads me, I am gearless,
I live in futile expectation, always fearless,
I am a fraud with misleadingcolours,
Winds rave and make a music ferocious,
I can remain dormant, always out of sight,
I have scant regard to commonsense,
I have a scanty brain and a purse scanty,
I myself am canker-stricken, illusion led,
Puffs my thought to the breaking point,
A twenty-first century man I am, vain,
I think of me, my market,my life.
