The Anatomy of an Insult
Did you ever meet a person who's every actions you feel the need to oppose, to call out the flaws in their character, to enlist hatred and bile of any and all against them?
I have not but I understand I am that person to some.
Admittedly, I find it puzzling but it has happened with such regularity throughout my life that I have reviewed the commonality of the relationships and the observation I have made is that all of these people who intensely hate me as a person share several common characteristics:
1) They are intensely passive aggressive
2) They have a need to be liked by every single person in the world
3) They are intensely insecure
4) They view themselves at excelling in some talent I practice
And I believe items 1-3 create a breeding ground but it is item 4 which is the catalyst that generates their hatred.
I have to admit, I do not understand hatred of people. I hate racism, I hate arrogance (which in my mind is the same thing as racism) and I hate and despise lemons and strawberries, but people? Not so much. There are plenty of people I do not like but hatred must be maintained and if I do not like someone, why would I spend time and effort on them?
Honestly, where is the benefit in that for me?
The biggest issue I have seen with item number 4 is that I am competent at things I do. Hell I may even be an expert at certain things, and I am, but I always present my knowledge as my personal point of view and strive to keep an open mind about the knowledge of others.
The problem is when I disagree with a point of view, statement presented as fact, or opinion. My act of disagreeing with them, of having an opinion that is in conflict with theirs, is something they take as a deadly insult.
So they fabricate accusations and enlist individuals of similar mindsets to engage in what they are certain are devastating attacks intended to personally hurt me.
That's when I commit the monumental sin in their eyes and seal my fate to them. I refuse to take them seriously because:
1) I am intensely aggressive aggressive (I state my opinion without apology)
2) If I don't respect you I could care less how you feel about me
3) I am comfortable with my insecurities
4) As I am competent in my pursuits I am not threatened by the competence of others
So I get called names and get accused of being mean and become the focus of these people's life as they strive to make me as miserable as my existence has made them. And I am puzzled by the whole thing but not overly concerned because the disdain or praise of these people is worthless because they have made themselves worthless through their actions and attitudes.
They are parasites on the world and I prefer to deal with symbionts.
Some people will take this blog as a personal attack. These people are idiots.
