Question for the Neopoet Community.
In my tenure/capacity as an AEC member, I have watched and tried to address the ongoing strife in this
community of writers/poets and generally *good folks*.
So many things go awry when we take things personally. But how can we not is the question.... Surely our
belonging to a greater community is more important than our individual *small* attacks of personality affronts,
and confrontations? Or not?
Many years ago, in my quest for life's larger answers, I read a book about a new order called *The Brotherhood*.
In it there were stories of keepers... those who kept the best of humanity so it wouldn't get lost in the worst of
times. (Are we heading towards or away from?). In the middle of the book, I threw it across the room because
I was angry, disgusted. Why? The current keepers had outlined certain rules and regulations and consequences
(punishments) as to aberrant behaviour in this new, perfected society.
Then, as now, until everyone is self-modifying... remembering the general welfare to a greater entity than one's
own selfish concerns, someone else will be/is assigned to do that *work*.
With that I ask:
1. Why would anyone want to attack another's poem/thoughts if one has never seriously examined one's own thinking?
Has anyone considered where our cache of thoughts come from? Hint: our personal backgrounds, our religion, our
upbringing, our education our well-being, our experiences...etc. (or lack of ...) Just who would we be without them?
2. If we can't self-moderate, than someone assigned to the job, such as the AEC (in this community) has to pick up the
pieces and deal with the situation as best we can. How that happens is a one-size-fits all declaration of to do's and not
to do's.
3.. I ask for your contributions that we (AEC) can access and perhaps actualize as our *bible* so to speak, in the coming
year.
Your thoughts and voice is appreciated.
Peace.

p.s. Above are just some of *my* thoughts... some will take this personally. These people are idiots. (Hi Jonathon!)
Please remember, we are humans and have a sense of humour at our disposal. We needn't take ourselves so seriously.
