Absolute Fragrance

The sky is a magic dome

vividly blue, and fresh

like the rain singing

to the trees and flowers;

like the ocean waves,

like the stars,

singing to the moon,

moving and removing

every single obstacle

to our freedom.

Our love is like a flag

slowly rising to the top,

a glorious call

to the happiness of

rocks and meadows,

brooks and valleys,

rivers, mountains, bushes,

and to believing, and to

laughing, as you have

never laughed.

And after all this loving,

we will live for a reason,

knowing we will grow

and prosper forever,

green amidst other greens,

with the persistent fragrance

of mint and spices

coming from your kitchen,

from the absolute,

silent, colorful sincerity

of our blessed friendship,

coming back for

another moment, stealing

to now and forever

the tremulous fear of death.

And after having

lived portentously, like

this, exactly like this, sadness

will be no more.

Dearest Jayne:

Thank you for reading my poem. And thank you for your kind comment. By the way, I like the black T-shirt you are wearing. What it says? Something about dragons that like to eat crunchy stuff with ketchup?! (LOL). Really funny! :) Sincerely, Hugo

it captured me & spiralled around me with it's delicious sentime

Hey Hugo I love this.. it has a wonderful naturalness about it & so many sweet, sweet lines that warmed me... such a gorgeous dirsct acknowledgement of the worth of love & the stand you make when you attest to it in this way.. I think after all the world DOES care... I believe the more we love the better the world is... an old myth perhps, but I believe it does make a difference... any bit of love & goodness spreads outward like ripples... I so love this write just for that reason alone... but I also really enjoyed the work as your art, it captured me & spiralled around me with it's delicious sentiment so that even if I had not found a love so wonderful as this I would be reminded so warmly of it's possibility & potency.... Three cheers for this, & five stars from me & a vote for more viewing as well. My thanks for this pleasure! Cheers Anni~ "When we feel love and kindness toward others, it not only makes others feel loved and cared for, but it helps us also to develop inner happiness and peace". H.H. the Dalai Lama

your poem promises a circle,

your poem promises a circle, rain turning to flowers, that could turn to fragrance and pollinating insects, that open to those endless cycles that return upon themselves ever changed, ever the same; but your poem turns linear (or so it seems to me) after the stars and moon remove all obstacles to freedom. I like the lines, but am confused by the sequence.

Dear Hugo

After all the wonderful things that have been said about your poem, what more can I add to it? I loved the title, it drew me in. Your language usage is sublime and the pacing is an even flow. I love the theme, all your love poems are special to me. Always, Cat

Dear Hugo.I so love your

Dear Hugo. I so love your poem.. it has such a lovely spirit and the feel of a timeless time.. life singing in every heart and flower and sky. A song came to my mind: it is a wonderful world , by Louis Armstrong ( my favourite ). Thank You for sharing of your beautiful heart, love. o molly

You know I speak honestly

Hi Hugo Been a bit distracted this last week or so but now your poem makes me focus in again. I liked the usage of the words in the first 20 lines but it somehow lacked a depth you have previously captured ...the words were faultless but the intent behind them was not strong enough and then I hit the second half of the poem that gave merit to the whole of it. It brought living contact to it, depth and real blood and guts feeling to it. I love the title, I love the poem but I just feel for me personally the first half is too long almost like a list. Apologies for my bluntness but it is because I like your work so much that I stop and think and make the effort to comment on it. Best Wishes Seabhac

Dear Seabhac:

I thank you your honest comment, it tells me you are really appreciative of every single line. Thanks for telling me what you dislike, I'll try not to make the same mistake in future poems. On the other hand, I'm grateful that many lines resonated with your heart, and that you ultimately liked most of it. Thank you, my dear friend. Sincerely, Hugo

All said before me

But how did I miss this, come on, I was not away for this long. Well I must say, still you are a brilliant poet. Words weaved with color and flow like a river. All beautiful and humming. Hugo, a marvel. Off to the next, how could I have not read this. Love Lyz. XX

Dear Lyz:

Always you so honestly kind. I thank you from the heart. Now I see you were off for quite a few days, just like me; probably because of Holiday Busyness. Thank you again, my dear friend. Sincerely, Hugo
