Changes (Most will not like my view)

Changes

It's odd, I am an old man, soon to be fifty-eight and have seen a lot in my life. I spent the first eleven years of my life in the country. We moved from Texas to Mississippi when I was two years old. Daddy was a sharecropper and we lived forty-seven miles from the nearest town until I was six years old.

I was a bookworm and read everything I could get my hands on from the time I started first grade and still tend to do so today. I have watched planes get faster and larger, cars get larger and smaller, more powerful and more fuel efficient. I have lived in tents with dirt floors all the way up to brick homes.

I have worked all my life until it got to the point I was unable to. My earliest job that I can remember was at four years old when I watched the water bucket in the field making sure it stayed in the shade and no bugs got into it. I have picked corn and cotton, dug potatoes, driven tractors, combines, auger wagons and used an idiot stick in the rice fields. (idiot stick= a shovel,  a blade on one end of a stick and an idiot on the other) I rode my bicycle for miles at nine years old selling greeting cards and flower seeds for a little money.

At eleven years old I started work sacking groceries after school and on weekends when we moved to town. At twelve I went to work across the street at another store sacking, stocking and helping in the meat market at twenty-five cents an hour. Along about then the government instituted the minimum wage law making the minimum wage thirty-five cents an hour. I was in high cotton, but the owner cut the hours of his employees to offset the increase in pay so ended up not making any more than before. I found a second job to help at the local movie theater. Started out taking tickets, then moved to the concession stand the next week. a month later the owner decided I would make a good projectionist so I started training on that. This meant I was now working seven days a week. From four in the afternoon until eight pm I sacked and stoked, then from nine Pm until eleven I worked at the movie theater. On Saturdays I worked from Nine AM until three PM at the store and from four PM until midnight at the theater. I finally quit the store and got  to work the Saturday double feature and my pay went up to seventy-five cents and hour.

Anyway, that is a short synopsis of my background. I left home at thirteen and bummed around. Hitching all over the south. From Memphis, to New Orleans, Houston, Little Rock and places in between. Was in the drug scene and done a lot of things I'm not proud of, some I am and always working at something, even as a janitor. I remember the Kennedy assassination and all the other stuff that went along with it. I was pretty liberal back then and even attended a couple of anti-war rallies pertaining to Vietnam. Something just never set right with me about the protests. Those men were risking their lives and getting killed and people were treating them like dirt back home. I couldn't do it, they were heroes to me. I ended up trying to join, but I was too small and had flat feet. Later I was drafted and once again turned down.

Okay, enough of this crud. I have seen a lot of changes in my life including learning.  I only have a 9th grade formal education with a General Equivalancy Diploma, but I have a voracious appetite for reading and reseaching. This has led me down many paths with ecology, government, science and numerous other roads opening before me. I can't tell you all the different forms of poetry or the technical know how to write it, but I write poetry and some consider me a fair hand at it. I have a decent grasp of english and seem to know more than many college graduates that cannot tell the difference between there, their and they're or even something as simple as your and you're. Things that I learned in grade school which doesn't say much for our schools or universities these days. One of the many changes I have seen over the years.

I have watched this country go from a great one to the shadow of greatness it is now becoming. I have watched our freedoms erode from year to year. I have watched as the Constitution and the Bill of Rights has been violated time and time again until finally it is at the point of being virtually meaningless. I have stood by while people have been told the government should do this or should do that for them instead of them doing it for themselves until finally it is at the point that we have mortgaged our children and grandchildrens future for the right to have the government hold our hands from cradle to grave telling us what to do, what to eat, who to buy from, what to drive etc... I have watched our freedom of religion crumble because some don't believe so we should not subject them to it even though they are free to ignore it. I have watched socialist leaning teachers and professors take over our schools and colleges and start indoctrinating our children. I have watched them sing praises to our president when they can't sing praises to God or say the Pledge of Allegence.

I have watched in the last year as the government took over 30% of our business and am seeing them try to dictate how much a person can make, how they can get rewarded and doing their damnedest to redistribute the wealth from people who earn it and give to others who have not.  I am fighting back in the only way I can, by my vote and my voice until they take that away also. I am seeing them use faulty science to pass laws that will not only bankrupt this country but put millions more people out of work and sign over our sovereignty to foreign nations.

I have watched faulty scinece in the late 60's and early 70's predict a new ice age and even predict in 1975 the ice shelves at the poles would be so thick it would break off and inundate the coastal cities. I was still smoking a little weed back then so I guess I got stoned and missed it. Was it very bad? How many people were drowned?

I have listened to people fawning over a charleton named Al Gore predict the virtual end of the world using faulty science claiming the world was going to get too hot to survive and none of his predictions have come true either in temperature rise, which was supposed to be higher already than it is. This is from a man with so much money that his home uses more electricity is a month that the average household does in a year. A man who wants us to make changes in our lifestyle and sacrifices while he drives his SUV's and Limos and flies around in a private Jet polluting more (by his own estimate) than most families ever do. He predicted that the ice caps were melting and would cause the coastal ares to be inundated. Did I miss that also? The ice caps are increasing in size. The poor polar bears were drowning because of the melting ice even though their numbers are increasing and they can swim for upwards of 50 miles on the open sea. Now, although the numbers have increased dramatically, they are trying to set aside a 2 million mile preserve and put them on the endagered species list that just happens to cover the most oil rich areas in Alaska. Interesting to say the least. You can actually see it happening all over the USA. Overlay the wildlife preserves of recent years with where oil has been discovered. (New finding: The USA and Europe together only account for about 15% of the worlds carbon emmissions, yet we are supposed to wreck our economy over it?)

The increase in CO in the atmosphere, although grade school science says different, is being touted to cause global warming even though real hard scientific observations prove differently. CO increases do not cause the warming. Supposedly it causes heat to be reflected back to the planet and decrease the amount of heat radiated into space. The data from the last 20 years shows a steady increase in radiated heat.

Changes, I've seen an awful lot of them, but none more aimed at controlling every aspect of the American and world population than these last few years. Keep silent, follow like sheep to the slaughter or stand up for your rights. I won't keep silent any longer. The government is headed down the wrong path cowtowing to radicals, maxists and special interests groups at a level unheard of before. Take control of your life and bring about change in the right direction. The direction of freedom, not marxism, freedom, not
government control of everything you do. If you don't, then get ready to live in the United Socialist States of Amerika.

If you waded through this mess and want to tell me how stupid I am feel free to do so. Just understand, I do not agree with socialism and government takeover in any form. I am uneducated and a poet, but that does not mean I am a fool.

I am an American and I am proud of it.
