Campaign for Neopoet -- complete!
A few words from our members about why it's so important to support Neopoet:
Hooded Stranger:I am Hooded Stranger and have been a member of Neopoet for about 2 months and in the last few weeks I have become an Advocate. I mainly chose Neopoet over other poetry forums due to its ability to get such good honest critique and feedback. This forum is not about poets flooding the site with their own work, but more about helping, critiquing, praising and offering ideas and suggestions to other fellow poets. It is like a family of writers who are out to help each other, than to promote their own work. I have made many new friends and have learnt a lot from the feedbacks I have received. I have no intentions of using any other poetry forum, it is all here. The site is also very easy to navigate and the chat forums add an extra dimension to this ever increasing and popular website.
Ziggy:Hi my Neo pen name is ziggy, since joining Neopoet I personally feel my writing has got better and better due, in no small way to all the free advice I get from all my fellow poets/friends here on Neopoet. I have only been a member five or six months and even at this stage I feel I would be lost without my place here at Neo, long may it last.
Rett:I have been here almost 2 years now and I served 5 consecutive sessions on the AEC including two as chair before deciding to not run again. I have been on the web for years and on many poetry sites. I have been writing for 42 years so far, but since coming here I have made more improvement than in the previous 40 years and have even started writing stories.
I have been a premium member since shortly after joining and love this site. Where else on the web can you get critique like this from fellow poets and also have a say in the running of the site? I maintain that the owners are both visionary and nuts. Letting poets have a say in running the site? Wow, that is either genius or nuts, but it works! The phenomenal age range here is amazing also.
Candlewitch:
I have belonged to many poetry sites, but I have stayed with neopoet because of the workshop atmosphere. It is comforting to know that my poems will be taken seriously and I can count on good honest advice in a friendly climate. At another poetry site, I had to take out two accounts to indulge in the development of my male alter ego, “Edge.” It is wonderful for me that I only need one account, and my alter ego is as welcome as I am. Thank you, neopoet, for providing an assassin free society, where we all can grow as writers.
(Feel free to contribute your own story in the comments section -- we'll post a few more here over the next week)
Thank you very much in advance for your generosity, and a big thank you much to those that have already contributed. (A partial list is on the bottom of this page.)
To contribute, please consider taking out a supporting membership (also termed a premium membership) at www.neopoet.com/premium
If you prefer a one time contribution, you may contribute at www.neopoet.com/donate or by sending a PayPal to [email protected]. We recommend memberships over donations, since memberships give us steady, predictable cashflow that we can rely on for our needs.
Our goal is to raise $500 to make this happen (we hope to get $100-200 for the current server, and the founders of this site will contribute the remainder).
Thank you all so much.
Regards,
Andrew, Paul, Candlewitch, Ink Dragon, Kailashana, themoonman, & Hooded Stranger
A big thanks to our supporters: Hooded Stranger, seabhac, pugilist, candlewitch, themoonman, bjp and a big thanks to doorman!
