In Sympathy ...
I have been reading all the accounts from american writers here on the site honouring those who perished
on September 11, And feel pain for you all ...
I thought as an outsider I could supply an account of what it was like for a lone australian
I speak for myself here no one else
I was sitting at my desk writing music for a wedding, and I had AUSTAR on the box, which in America I guess is called cable
I heard a newsbreak on a channel that NEVER had ads shocked I turned in my seat , to hear a newsperson say
A plane has hit the twin towers, i turned the news over to CNN ,to watch the unfolding of chaos, I didn't sleep that night
or much of the next, glued to the television waiting for the next bit of bad news ...
And amongs't the tragedy I watched small miracles of people surviving and the rescue workers who worked until they fell
I watched it all from thousands of miles away, knowing I could do nothing but watch and grieve ... along with you all
I sat and watched as the second plane hit, live, only in our world, could we watch such attrocities unfolding ...
Those Poor people I still see it , I cried for the whole world that night, knowing that nothing would ever be the same again
And I was right more troops were sent to die, more sons and brothers and fathers and mothers an daughters and sisters
all died ... and still die in the name of those who were murdered
And soon my own son goes as well
There can never be a balancing of the scales no matter how many lives are lost
But we can count the blessings we have,
knowing we live in a world were 'this' has a name
Terrorism
I feel strongly about 911, I am not american but feel their pain as did the world ...we lost ausralians in that building
as did many other countries ...
With much sympathy I send my love to all of you today ...
