NINE-ELEVEN

"The Tower Descends"       Ann 9-11-09.

Crash

the tower descends

the World Trade Centre

sinks into the ground

all souls within

or leaping out

descend with dust

with bricks and mortar

to their mortal ends.

Down sink the hearts

of all Americans

of earth's peoples now

their souls stand still

surprised

as when the spirit of democracy

dies before our eyes

drowned in the dust of diplomacy

a claim to pride

the capitol of work

a centre for us all.

One tiny plane flew in

amidst the din of every day

and shattered every dream

and now the wells of every eye

full to the brim with liquid

lies polluted, stained

and drowned

what help the sun, the moon,

the stars

our solace to command

oh

all peoples of the world

uncurl your flags

half mast

and send your loving heart throbs

to Americans

and back

to bind our social consciousness

each unto the other

stand firm against those all

who love no more

the cause

decreed by every man

to give a minutes pause

and think of love.

This morning

is the morning

that those devil

terrorists

flew into our midst

and destroyed many lives

destroyed the tower

of companionship

of nations

what really

did they think they'd

achieive?

Nothing more

than the sorrow

that's there till tomorrow

for ever tomorrows will grieve

we sigh

as we die

at the sadness of man

at his greed

his terrible creeds

his worse evil deeds

and these lead him on

to create such a storm

of dust that denies

them the prize

its fog rises up

and covers the muck

of their prayers

when we're all on this earth

from our birth

to our death

in one breath

and we're all

of the same damned stuff
