Autumnal Expectation

The dappled sunlight playsOn the tears of the landIt has cried hard for daysFlooding the ripened squares of cropWashing harvesting hopesFrom growers of grain.Their tears adding to the deluge. The land is saturated by our demandsSwamped with our expectationsStruggling to survive. Let it breath,Let it grieveGive it spaceIts hurt runs deep.
