Blue Dress

Normal 0

  Normal 0

Blushed and yellow fluorescence

reflects on an old table

staying against an errant nail or two

and an absence of some paint

to see it through

Saying without speaking

though there was no choice for me

here in the Cimmerian light

I had to be near you

the dancer on the plains

I bought you the only blue dress in town

A summer hat with a ribbon too

and still you couldn’t find a reason

to come back to me

Looking at the broken pieces of things

it’s funny how they felt so familiar

as I stood falling apart in front of them

leaving stains that would not stop

echoing the wake of yesterday

Tending your eyes now

redemption seems out of my reach

because I cannot find a reason

for having nothing to say
