End of the road....
After a great amount of consideration, pondering, and decision-making, I've decided to take a major hiatus of Neopoet. The primary reason being because after class starts in less than a week, I'll not have time for anything other than tending to my family, and doing schoolwork. Secondly, this used to be my home away from home, but because of recent events, this is no longer the case.
I've witnessed way too much crap, fighting, and inconsistencies within the site. A key member is banned for having an opinion and trying to salvage the very principles this site was founded on. Meanwhile, there are several members outright attacking others, and yet they're still here.
Other people are over-voting other people's work because "they're hot!" and then when other members disagree, and give pointed and good critique, they are scorned and attacked. Give me a fucking break. I've witnessed several people who respond "thanks, but this is how I write" when offered suggestions on improvement.
Yet the inconsistencies and pulling away from the original intent of this site has become commonplace and accepted. Those who hold steadfast to the original spirit and principles are banned, ignored, and looked down upon. I notice that I've become one of these people, as not too many have commented on recent works of mine. I could be, and I hope that I am wrong in the conclusion that I draw.... maybe it's just the weather and less people are online, who knows... but it seems far too much a coincidence.
So ends my trip on the Neopoet merry-go-round for now. I hope that the site can somehow return back to its roots, but from what I've seen, my faith is weak. I hope that I am proven wrong....
