The first dance

You took my hand and took me off guard.
You led me to dance in that crowded room
but my senses were blurred to all but you.

There is a mystery behind your eyes
their story intrigues me
The sly smile that dances on your lips
draws me in for the reading

I was hurting in ways you could not know
Tears were spilled and promises broken
I needed to get to a place safe and secure
Then on the dance floor with you I melted

You held me close and made me wish for more
 The passion that was gone
restored from a glance
The intensity of life
peaked through a single look

Thank you life for my first dance.
