Goodbye Yellowbrick Stars
I'm opting out of the rating process of poems.
The good news is that if your poetry sucks and consistently gets 4 and 5 stars, then I won't be dragging down your average and your friends can get your poem Spotlighted and you can do with that whatever you desire.
The bad news is that if your poetry is worthwhile all you will have is my comments.
Furthermore, I'd love if no one rated my poetry, to close the circle on this. I want your harshest critical feedback at all times. I want your suggestions, observations, and random thoughts on structure and style and stumbles and all those other "s" words.
But I'm not in competition with anyone here and the rating process has become a popularity drill and I'm just no going to play.
For the people here to become better writers and poets, I want to interact with you on a level playing field and age, experience, or ability is not important, only honesty and a commitment for improvement. As is evident each day, those committed to becoming better poets can and do offer excellent observations and suggestions, even if they wrote their first poem yesterday.
For folks here to be told how wonderful they are, I don't have time to waste with you or your drivel.
As always, if I have offended anyone with these statements, good.
