the sand castle

all the glory that this world holds
is no more than a castle on a beach
built with immature hands no matter the age
that when the water over-runs the shores
the moat is defenceless to spare the castle

all the story that the world folds
in the night of a day that is dead
is a sandy castle aloft the fickle banks
that when the waters rush violently upon
it shall crumble the cheap aspiration of accomplishments

all the ivory and all the gold
have been forged to adorn its gates
its dome, its walls, its platinum made floors
shall be swept aside when death chokes
the king, his palace and kingdom-to drown
