America's Birthday, One Mans Opinion
For two hundred and thirty-three years this country has fought for Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. Men and women from many countries have come here for the same pursuit. Many other countries would love to have what we have. Here in the United States of America and on foreign shores American from many cultures, races and religions have given their lives so that others could live in freedom, often thanklessly while others jeered and hoped that we would fail or cursed us for succeeding.
Each July the fourth we celebrate the founding of this country and our belief in the freedom of our people to strive and succeed at what they want to do. We celebrate the fact that here a person can worship in the manner they choose. If you are Christian of whatever denomination, you are free to worship. If you are Muslim, Jewish, Wiccan, Buddist or atheist, you are free to state your views or not as long as you are not harming anyone. You can do this without government interference.
That is one of the things our forefathers fought and died for. Being free to worship in any manner you choose or not worship is your choice. This does not mean you can force someone to worship your way or refuse them the right to worship theirs. Yet we have a minority of people that fight to do just that.
This country was founded on the principal that All Men Are Created Equal. This does not mean that people have not made mistakes in their past, but that we have the same chance to succeed as any other person. It also does not mean that we have the right to what someone else has earned. It means we have the right to strive to the best of our ability to earn what we can whether it is money, respect or freedom to pursue our interests.
This country was founded on the principal or limited government interference in our lives. The constitution was set up to limit the role of government by making it hard for laws to be passed and for the government to do nothing without a representation of the people to oversee this process.
We the people have abrogated that right. We the people have decided that we would elect crooks, charlatans, cheats, self absorbed people who represent only themselves to our government. We the people have found it is too much trouble to look at the candidates, to check out their records, to make a judgment call and go to our local voting place and cast our informed vote for someone who is supposed to represent the good of not only the people, but the country. Instead, we listen to a biased news media who have only their own self interest and power at heart to make our decisions for us, to tell us what they want us to hear and have gotten to lazy to even go and vote.
Our politicians now have only one thing on their minds. Increase their power even if it requires running a once great country into the ground. Increase their power at the expense of putting foreign governments in control of our country. Increase their power by coming up with myriad ways to control the population in the guise of controlling emissions that are meaningless except for one overriding purpose. That purpose is control of every part of your life. People, you need to wake up and see the far reaching consequences of the cap in trade and the energy plan before it is too dang late.
This Fourth of July, I am in mourning for a once great country. We are fast heading toward totalitarianism. The United States of America is fast becoming the United Socialist Amerika.
Oh, I will honor those people who are fighting for our country. Our brave people, soldiers and statesmen of the past who once made this country great, but I will also mourn the loss of our freedom, self-reliance, responsibility and common sense that we once had and have now given up to a government out of control and power hungry. Instead of the things that once made us great, we have sunk to being too lazy to care for ourselves. Now we think the government should take care of everything and we should do nothing. Shame on you.
Happy Birthday America! It breaks my heart to see you fallen so.
