Promises Kept

In secret gardens of stone
Doves sing where she once lived
With sun light angels

Lost among rose bush labryinths
Darkness is where she dwells
Candle held-a-loft

Traveling upon stone stairs
Winter follows her steps
To Bridegroom's doorway

Her consort's hall filled with light
Tales of heroic deeds sung
The land above sleeps

Pomegranates red as blood
Staining her lips with promises
A wedding feast paid

Persephone and Hades
Sacrifice and the blade
A land dies to live

The end

Thankyou

I have a couple corrections: labrynths ->labyrinths heroric -> heroic Pomegranets -> pomegranates - - - - very small corrections. I had gotten mixed visuals with this piece. The first two stanzas suggest that the woman is dead. Then you go to this woman going down to a (crypt?) to see a husband that had passed? It's almost as if the woman were undead? Persephone and Hades... Lord and Lady of Hell... Wow, where does this fit in with everything? I'd love a detailed description of what this piece is about, as it intrigues me greatly, and I believe it has an awesome story behind it. I'll come back with the 5th star after the corrections are made, and I have a better understanding of the piece, ok? By the way, to what do I owe the honor of having a poem posted for me? You're very kind. ~Jess K. ----------------------- "Why worry? There should be laughter after pain. There should be sunshine after rain. These things have always been the same. Jess, Thank you for pointing out my horrible spelling mistakes. As of late I have very limited on-line time. That being said I have been known to rush my activity as much as possible. I still feel like a dunce though... Persephone and Hades... Persephone is kidnapped (ancient Greek wedding ritual) and taken to the underworld. While there, she eats several pomegranates. With each one, she is consigned to stay in her husband's Palace-Hall for a month. While she is away from the earth, winter rules. With her return from the underground spring arrives. I tried to create a poem that expained this myth. I was also trying out a new meter scheme. I also read some of your comments on past postings of mine. I thought you might like this one. All my absolute best!

Ahhhh!

Duh. *slaps forehead with palm* That makes perfect sense now - and it's cleverly done. I like the new scheme, as I don't think it's really been used much. And you're right - I do like mythology and medieval/Renaissance/gothic things. Thankyou for remembering that. =) I wish I knew more about you so I could return the honor. ~Jess K. ----------------------- "Sundown you better take care if I find you've been creepin' 'round my back stairs.
