A Salmagundi

Salmagundi

---

poetry? you call
this poetry? I think not;
on the other hand ...
                                    ---barbsdad
---

tell
me

sensible

is as sensible
does, I know, I know, but tell
me, please, just what is

sensible?

---

a
curding

a contrail leaves its
curding milk widening against
an azure sky; so ...

---

against
her

the world, I think, needs
a break from all the humans
who live against her

---

when
the
bus?

I confuse myself:
I've asked a'ready, I know,
but ... when's the bus due?

---

off my
patio

wild onions bloom off
my patio; I eat them
normally; not now

---

I call
a bluff

I read the sign says
Trespassers Violated;
here I wait; nothing

I so like your ...

"can't pick a piece." So much better than, say, "Let me pick apart this piece," or whatever. Although if it needs pickin', I'd just say go at it. As long's it's legit. The pickin's, that is. Thanx, Chuck

=)

Of all these little poems in this string, this is my favorite: against her the world, I think, needs a break from all the humans who live against her as it has the most meaning for me. I had to look up salmagundi (which I love learning new words) and this is what my dictionary had to say: sal·ma·gun·di [sàlm? gúndee] (plural sal·ma·gun·dis) noun 1. mixed salad: a mixed salad of various ingredients, such as meat, poultry, fish, and vegetables, arranged in rows on a platter 2. mixture: a mixture or miscellany (literary) Encarta® World English Dictionary © & (P) 1999,2000 Microsoft Corporation. Salmagundi...

A mixed bag of treats for sure... particularly fond of the "against her" and "I call a bluff"... but I wouldn't stand there too long...lol... much enjoyed your witticisms... Richard
