poetry vis-a-vis blank verse

"My head is bloody but unbowed" - I could remember that snippet of one of my favourite poems because of the rhyme and rhythm structure of the piece. To me, one of the main attributes of poetry is it's similarity to song - instead of the music as the memory hook the rhythm and rhyme are the mental storage jars.

 BUT  -- Come on, kids, let's not spit out the dummy and adopt the petted lip . SMILE . Nobody mentioned that the squid and snail stories were humorous - did no-one even think for a nano-second they were allowed to take themselves less seriously for once?
