"The day my mother died"

The day my mother died
I felt like punching random people in the face
Didn’t want to hear “God is Good”, “She’s resting NOW”,
And I definitely didn’t feel like hearing bout GOD’S GRACE

You see
I was holding out for a miracle
Just trusting and believing
Not quite expecting that
She’d be leaving

Guess that goes to show
It was all in HIS plan
For her to walk this earth, impart in me, then leave
So I can stand

In the authority she taught me
From strength to strength
To hold on to Jesus
No matter the length

No matter the length
Or Span of time
I hold her close to my heart
Cause she is mine

Forever remembered
And never forgotten
My mom to me
Is always prodding

Pulling at my heart
To see how much it can take
Yet, ever so mindful
Not to break

“The soil”
My heart
She’s always cultivating
Now that she’s gone
It seems like she’s taking

A little too long
To teach me her “lesson”
Of how in life, you don’t always understand
You just count it a BLESSING

To have had the privilege
Of being loved by such a GREAT woman
The day my mother died
I think she saw it comin’

A time in my life
We wouldn’t walk the same earth
Yet soon to meet again in heaven
For the first time

Just like at my birth!

"The day my mother died"

I apologize for the late response, I have been joining other poetry communities and lost track of this one. For now I'm sticking with Neopoet.com and Youtube for my poetic outlets. Fortunately, my mother is still living and doing well. A friend of mine recently lost his mother to Cancer and this was an introspective of how I thought he may be feeling about his loss right now. I appreciate your comments and will be checking out some of your works as well.
