The Neopoet Chat Rewards Program is about to begin! We are so proud to offer you the chance to be a part of this one of a kind program! We will begin this Monday night April 13, 2009 with our first Rewards Monday 9pm-10pm ET themed as Q&A and hosted by our Rewards host Poewriter58 and co-hosted by our Friday Night Rewards Hour host Katie Thompson.

Program Basics:

The intent of the program is to encourage the formation of a strong core community. Points are accumulated through participation in the chat program. Points are redeemed in ways that encourage members to improve themselves as poets and become more integrated with the Neopoet community.* This program will be administered by the Chat Committee and Rewards Staff as elected by the Chat Committee.

How Points are accumulated:
1 point for every hour spent in a hosted chat event (posted on the Chat Events Calendar on the front page)

2 points for every hour spent in a hosted special event (contests, ect.)

4 additional points will be given to the winner/winners of any special events (as determined by the host and/or Chat Committee)

*We understand that we have a lot of members who try their best to join our chat events and are unable to stay for the full length of the room.  For these valued members we had decided that, if you join a room and you are an active participant for 30 minutes or more, then you will be awarded one full point.  If you are in the room less than 30 minutes or you are in the room yet inactive then no points will be awarded.  

How Points are Spent & the time slots they are spent in:

 4 points - the chat room helps you finish a work in progress
15 minutes slots – to be done on Rewards Monday (2 hour room hosted by Poewriter58) or our Friday Night Rewards Hour (1 hour room hosted by Katie Thompson)

8 points - analyze your poems in the room
15 minutes slots-to be done on Rewards Monday (2 hour room hosted by Poewriter58) or our Friday Night Rewards Hour (1 hour room hosted by Katie Thompson)

10 points - choose a topic for your favorite host

15 points - debate and discuss your favorite poet and their works
20 minutes to be done on Rewards Monday (2 hour room hosted by Poewriter58) or our Friday Night Rewards Hour (1 hour room hosted by Katie Thompson)

20 points - co-host with your favorite chat host

24 points - host solo for one hour (with brief training)
Done on Friday Night Rewards Hour after you have sat in on a two hour room and ‘trained’ with a host or manager.

50 points - host your own contest (must be your own idea and approved by committee)
Done on Rewards Monday (1 hour room hosted by Poewriter58)

75 points - have a Q&A about your book or book idea
Done on Rewards Monday (1 hour room hosted by Poewriter58)

150 points - one full hour to plug your published works (must be proven bound publication)
Done on Rewards Monday (1 hour room hosted by Poewriter58)

300 points - one year’s premium membership free or one year’s extension added to existing plan
Big 2 hour event on Rewards Monday (2 hour room hosted by Poewriter58) to congratulate the winners.

Your points will be calculated and posted in the forums weekly so that you may better keep track of your own points and request the Rewards as you would like to use them. Just remember that every time you use a certain point value, your total points will decrease by that much. We will update this in the forums as well.

 All special events and their timelines are determined by the Chat Committee and will be posted and advertised so that you are made aware of them well in advance.

 Finally we would like to thank you from the bottoms of our poetic little souls for being a part of this. Due to the fact that this type of program has never been done before, the first three months will be a trial period to work out any kinks and your patience will be greatly appreciated!
