A robin redbreast in a cage
Puts all Heaven in a rage.

winter's habits hold
me prisoned; backyard birdsong
tempts me: "Come! Come out!"

Ah yes, still cold up there huh?

I relate to the sentiment expressed Chuck. Very brief, succinct and extremely enjoyable. As always with your poetry, I can find no fault and it is beautiful. Respectfully, Rett: "Next time you think you're perfect, walk on water." "A Democracy can withstand anything but Democrats." Robert A. Heinlein

So tired ...

so, so tired ... of winter. And its costs. Like to heat the house enough to keep Buster---but not me, of course!---comfortable. He's got feathers; I don't. Poor guy. By that I refer to featherless me. Thanx, Chuck

It IS beautifulYou are very

It IS beautiful You are very good at the haunting, cold, alone sentiments Chuck. I look forward to seeing you frivilously cavort with a hot passion one day... Not really, just kidding, these lovely delicate ones always get me, you really do know how to get to the little solitary corners of ones soul. Anni "Out beyond the ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field. I will meet you there. When the soul lies down in that grass, the world is too full to talk about ideas, language, and even the phrase, "each other" doesn't make any sense."

Hello Chuck

'backyard birdsong tempts me: “Come! Come out!” Your poem sounds to me like you may have had a wee bit of spring up there in MI. Been to California. It's almost always nice there, but now heading to MN. We'll see. It is wonderful, on the other hand, to finally have some light into the evening. It won't be long now and we'll have some poems from you about the heat and humidity up there by the lakes. (ha ha) Yours, Dee

At the moment ...

heat/humidity hold no terrors for me. Later, I know, I'll feel differently. Ah,well, maybe I won't survive the relentless cold. Why worry about something I may not live long enough to experience? I feel the same about library books. When I check 'em out, they give me three weeks. And if I expire before the books're due back, I won't face the embarrassment (and expense) of egregious library fines. Hah! Good thoughts, these. Thanx, Chuck

Chuck...

that's how I feel today... the birds are out there and squirrels are scrambling from tree to tree, but it is 43 degrees and it is raining that cold rain... the kind that makes me not want to go out and I love the rain... barred by the habit of warm kitchens scent I look out at the wetted day and know that I too am ready for the warming of spring... great senryu!
