Soul Asylum

Within the shadows of my soul,

      where darkness does defy,

I find my strength upon one star

in the attics of the sky.

And when the onus of this life

      purloins my reverie,

My soul emerges from the strife

      on distant nebulae.[1]

It's there, freed from my great abyss,

      I soar intrepidly,

Upon the blackened skies of bliss

      of jeweled tranquility.

Then piercing through the cosmic veil,

      a shining meteor,

Behold transfigured in its tail,

      my spiritual servitor.

There amid the galactic night,

      of sublime acuity,

My soul transcended from the plight

      with a star's soliloquy.

Then with a sudden exploding force,

      a cosmic cataclysm,

A blinding light, the heart and source,

      a new-born asterism.

Bedazzled by the august lights,

I take in the shining rays,

Filled with wonder great and might,

I'm lost in mist and haze.

I reach into the vast unknown

      and depart subsonically,

Swirling through a vortical cone,

      I egress ethereally.

I journey home on stellar helm

      with galactic synergy,

Transported back, my earthly realm,

      to procreate my destiny.

Delivered hence, my soul is free,

      my catholicon[2] complete,

And when this life encumbers me,

to the stars I shall retreat.
