Immediately

My good friend in Scotland sent me " A book of nonsense" by Mervyn Peake. I reply:-

I must respond immediately

to that which you have sent to me

so absolute, delectable,

the table with the dinnerel

set out to 'muse ones tinklings

and if you will excuse

the nonsenseicle prehensible

meramblings of my fuse,

you knew that I could use.

Its catching and matching

the style of sounds enchanting

from spheres of mind

how very kind

of you to think

that I could sink

into the words

of nonsense prose

and stop the drip upon my nose

for laughing at my too short toes.

I find that I cannot stop. Oh! What

can save me from this noodlespot?

The rhythm interposing

my very brain gallops around

on camels rounded humped background

in trousers tight, I burn the light

and out of sight the brain

'tis as was is in such a tizz

like drizzle in the rain.

Insane!

Thank you and takk you are so good to think of me in April,

when I shall send my love to you the thousandth time in May.

Ann.
