Sound Editing Software

For Christmas I got a USB turntable to record my old Vinyl Albums to the computer. It came with a piece of Sound editing software that is really cool.

The best part of it is that it is Freeware. Free to download and free to use. They do accept donations, but do not harrass you about it. I find that it is extremely easy to use so that even a beginner can make heads or tails out of it and start recording right away. Editing out unwanted areas or blank spaces is only a matter of Highlighting the area you want to delet and pressing the delete key. You can also add effects by highlighting the area and choosing the effect you want to add, plus you can minimize the pops and clicks and other assorted noises easily.  You can output in WAV, MP3 and OGG formats.

It also allows microphone input and midi input so it is really versatile. The name of the software is "Audacity" in case anyone is interested. I have been having a blast with it recording my old 33 RPM Records and am going to do a few 45's also. I even have a few old 78 RPM records among which is Eddie Armolds Cattle Call song. *LOL*

If anyone is thinking about doing the same I recommend Audacity, especially since it is open source code like Firefox is.

Respectfully,
Rett
