The boundaries of eloquence

I reach out for a star-shaped word

I try to capture it for your comfort

But all the words have cowardly fled

In the face of what you are facing now

Hi,

I understand this feeling. I have a friend who lost her eighteen-year-old daughter in a tragic, absurd accident a few years back, and I was unable to say or write anything to console her. Some situations are too harsh for words. Your poem says it well. Best wishes, Robert.

Thanks, Robert and Richard,

Let´s all pray for her and send her our best wishes. I can feel how everybody here has been stopped in their tracks by this devastating news. I refuse to give up hope! ID

honestly,

one of your best. I would bring you this word if I could. I didn't get the chance to meet her but I'm keeping my fingers crossed all the same.

You are right about the similarities.

I loved the first line. I'm more inclined toward the opinion that the words haven't fled but that they don't exist. How can the human construction of language capture the point where human life ends? This is appropriately short as I think talk on this subject should be. Short but present-the presence being most important. I'm sorry I missed this the first time.

Hi Arrow,

maybe you are right...the words may not even exist. But I keep struggling for them, because they usually are my friends and my comfort...So I feel like being abandoned by them... Thanks for reading, I really appreciate your comment, ~Nina
