Ladybug

I noticed movement out of the corner of my eye.
what's this exploring the arm of my chair?
A wee ladybug.
A smile lit my face
and I put my finger in her path.
She crawled on, and I brought her in for a closer look.
Such a speckled beauty she was.
Covered in spots.
Her little legs tickled as she explored the new turf.
Little antennae working feverishly
trying to identify what she was walking on.

As she came to the end of my finger
her front legs shot out
thinking that maybe a leaf or twig was nearby
or something more familiar.
When she grasped nothing but air
she scurried the other direction up my finger
hoping to find something there.
Flustered and disappointed
she took flight
and landed on the wall

Her red little body
a stark contrast to the brilliant white behind her
as she surveyed her domain
probably just as confused as before.
Before long, she will probably find the plant in the kitchen
and will feel more at home
and I sit, pleased and warmed
that is is my home that she graced.
and my face she put a smile on.....

(I love ladybugs, and was especially happy to have this little one in my house.  Just thought I'd write about the moment.  Am open to suggestions and comments.  Will probably transfer this to the main stream once it's properly polished up....)
