Twenty and Some Odd Years...
From girl to woman
I am who I always was
Not any different today
Than yesterdays child
Only taller and thick
With experience
Richer perhaps
Always the mother
Searching at times
For a child to care for
Needing, pleading
For that kind of love
Always a sensual creature
Searching for a place
Where it was ok to love
Needing, pleading
For that kind of touch
Always the forgotten one
Searching for a place
To hide in the wide open
Needing, pleading
For that kind of sanctuary
Always the poet
Searching at times
For words that spin the earth
Needing, pleading
For that kind of genius
From girl to woman
I am who I always was
Not any different today
Than yesterdays child
Only taller and thick
With experience
Richer perhaps
