A primer on the realities of life and commerce

A primer on the realities of life and commerce

For the last 30 years the democratic liberal agenda has been to force more and more stringent rules and unmeetable goals on business all the way from small business owners to the oil companies. This is the result.
It takes app. 20 years to get permission to build an oil refinery because of all the clean air studies, environmental impact studies and lawsuits brought by the radical section of the enviro movement. They have restricted and banned the use of our own oil making us dependent on other countries. Now with other emerging nations we are all, in every country around the world having to pay outrageous prices for oil. Twenty years ago we should have been allowing the drilling and refining of oil in a safe, environmentally safe manner. We should have been doing this but laws that were put in place as far back as the Carter Administration hamstrung the companies.  Now ever more stringent environmental controls are killing out industries, not just hamstringing the oil companies,

What do you think is going to happen when gasoline reaches 8-12 dollars a gallon? Well, let me paint a picture for all you people that don’t seem to want to look beyond the immediate. First off, the farmers can’t afford to produce as much if any. This drives the cost of grain and produce through the roof. Next the truckers and the railroad industry are paying through the roof for fuel so they can’t afford to keep the trucks and trains running without drastically increasing their prices. This drives up the cost of the grain and produce they carry to keep this nation fed and gasoline and oil transported to the stations and the companies that require it. In turn the  grocery stores and the station and the companies have to raise their prices to afford it. Next come the fact that you are paying $5.00 for a loaf of bread, $10.00 for a pound of tomatoes, $8.00 for a head of lettuce and $20.00 for a 2 lb. bag of flour. The feed for cattle, hogs, chickens etc. goes up. Raising them takes a lot more money, transporting them to market takes even more. The meat markets and the butcher shops have to make money so their price soars. Then you have something as simple as a pound of hamburger costing $30.00.

Okay, we can develop alternate forms of energy you say. What are we going to develop? Hydrogen technology you say. Wonderful, have you given thought to how we gat Hydrogen? We get it by breaking water down into Hydrogen and Oxygen. How do we do that? With electricity or we can do it with fuel cells. Yes we can, very expensively. We can do it any number of ways right now, all of it prohibitively expensive. We can use electric motors and batteries. Yes, we can. The batteries have a finite life span and are expensive and offer very limited range plus they pollute more in the manufacture and disposal than oil ever thought about,
What we need is a common sense approach to clean air, not this  blanket approach.  You need to face the fact that oil is essential. Everything from asphalt to xylophones is dependent on oil. I did not even mention our plastic, food wraps, clothing and too many other things to mention that are dependent on oil and oil by-products. I know you environmentalists do not want to hear this or believe it, but you had better come to your senses before you starve everyone in this and every other country to death and reduce us back to the hunter gatherer stage and have us living in caves again. Do you think adding taxes on companies will support you and your agenda? I’m telling you right now that it won’t. YOU will be the one paying and it will be more than just money. GM, Ford and Chrysler are about to go under because you think they can keep up with this idealistic, unrealistic world you want. Wind power, solar power, hydrogen technology and all you protectionist and anti business agendas will not feed, clothe, bathe or support you. Grow up and get some common sense. We need all of these plus oil and nuclear energy and should be working together trying to hit the best compromise for everyone instead of trying to destroy our very lives through stupid activist legislation.
That is my two cents. I have tried to tell you what you are doing, but I will probably starve right along- side of you.
