Dimes

Dimes are falling from the stars tonight
Tiny pieces of silver
Tiny tickets for dreams

The world is out tonight
Beneath the stars,
Zealously receiving the gifts
Blindly collecting the silver

I'm inside, at the window
Hot tea in hand
Watching, sardonic grin upon my face:
Don't they know the dimes turn to stardust in the morning?

I turn away from the absurd melee
Sit and open a favourite volume
A favourite volume of recorded dreams;
I will visit the stars tomorrow night
When their silence can be heard.

Personally I liked it

I'm no expert just a simple person,so all i can say is that it made me want to sit down for a peaceful moment with my favorite volume of recorded dreams. for I too know the nature of those dimes, all to stardust in the morn. Lacy, Where power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

I’m glad you’re behind

I'm glad you're behind the window watching as well, those scrabbling after the fallen dimes are too numerous. You can smile with me when they turn to stardust come the morn. Alobar (Just my two cents, spend them on gum if you wish.)

A delightful read

and a great theme. I am playing with the first line in my mind: ------------------- Dimes are falling out of the stars tonight ------------------- Might you replace 'out of' with 'from?' I believe it's the shortened syllable count on the next two lines. there's a declining meter but I'm feeling as is the step from line 1 to 2 might be too great. That's not hard advice, just something to look at. But I love the last stanza: ----------------------- I turn away from the absurd melee Sit and open a favourite volume A favourite volume of recorded dreams; I will visit the stars tomorrow night When their silence can be heard. ----------------------- The repetition works and the message is spot on. Excellent job. --Jonathan Annoying the world, one person at a time (Group discounts available)

I read re-read, and I agree.

I read re-read, and I agree. Change applied. (rhythm is not my strongest suit--you should see me (try to) dance!!) Thank as always. Alobar (Just my two cents, spend them on gum if you wish.)

Delightful Reading

Smiles:) Barbara A sense of peace from the world. The rat race I choose not to mingle, for the dimes falling from the stars. Another beautiful piece from you.

I suspected after I posted

I suspected after I posted this that many would be behind the window with me. Good place. Thanks for reading. Alobar (Just my two cents, spend them on gum if you wish.)

wonderful perspectives...

I see it rather like a moment of finding answers to the inner questions, like a wisdom moment totally submersed in the picture beyond the window. The final is superb - the "silence" that can be heard goes perfectly well with the noise from the falling dimes. Excellent work, beautiful images ... congrats! Cheers from Marius!
