Late at Night
I glance away from the windows of the soul
And stare out the window of my room
To glare at the waxing and waning fiend that sears my eyes
And mocks the fear of being caught
The ivory door stands guard
To ward away criticism and anger
Though he’s easily capable of being opened
Thoughts are lost to ecstasy
Red satin sheets so soft against the skin
Wrap gently around the entwined for comfort
Deeply appreciated and yet completely unnoticed
As unyielding arms comfort one another
The handmade blanket defiantly hides our wrongdoing
A haven made within itself
Oppression temporarily shut out
A blessings more fine than silver or gold
The bed envelops naïve souls
Still believing in eternal everlasting
Wise in ways it knows what they don’t
This time they see each other will be the last.
