Sexually Themed Poetry or what I like to call: Penthouse Poetry
I am beginning to wonder if, maybe I should talk to the Technical side of the house and ask if maybe we should consider creating a venue for graphic poetry. I for one do not have a problem reading and or appreciating such poetry. However, not all members or future members appreciate sexually themed poetry, nor do all member and or future members share the same morality as the authors of this particular genre.
To the community at large this is my reasoning: If say I am a new member, and or a visitor to the site with the possible thought of joining our happy little community, do I want to see upon my first reading of any of the poetry that is in the "Stream" of posted work...something like: "He took her hard, thrusting deep into her open wet pink gates of heaven" ?????
I am not even remotely suggesting that this is a topic about censorship-(for those who might try to bring that argument up) I say post it! Post it where anyone can read it. Just post it in a place that is appropriate.
Our community is growing. If we-(collectively) want to be taken serious by the poetry world at large, then we need to act accordingly. Neopoet.com is a serious forum for serious poets. The community has created and or embraced the "Mentor Program"-Which incidentally, I think we are the only poetry site that is actually doing something about helping fellow poets grow and stretch within their craft or art form. The site is constantly evolving and growing. As it evolves there will be new features added, and with our growth there will come for a lack of a better definition a "Depth of History" that the community has created.
With that "Depth of History" we will have developed resources, created inter-poet networks, developed publishing contacts, invited published poets to lecture on their work and their inspirations. I know that we want to sponsor via the internet international poetry contests. There has even been talk of publishing our members in our own magazine. With that comes the ability to nominate poets for awards in the publishing industry as a whole ie. -The Push Cart Award.
Hopefully you can see that I am enthusiastic about the site. I hope that you can see the future that lies just down the road for us all. We want to be a vibrant, live, constantly changing and evolving community. I want your opinion on creating a seperate venue to post adult themed poetry. I want you to tell me what you think about this subject. This is after all your site.
