IN FLAGRANTE DELICTO

There was a far-flung fairyland
and a time upon a time
Wherein you grew yourself some wings

and took yourself away …
and I went searching for you
    though I knew
         in my heart
              what I’d find.

Are you away with the fairies, then,
in flights of fancy-free?
Are you lost in the mists of magic
from legends, lies and myths?

[Your evening eyes are worlds away,
your body stays shockingly here.]

Was he once a fawning frog, then,
coaxed and caressed to the crown?
Did he beat down burnished briars
to breach your fast-bolted doors?

[Your mood of magic folds you in
your real life drifts away.]

Is he merely a Beast to your Beauty,
are you granting his wishes tonight?
Are his grunts, to you, mythic music
to smother reality’s tune?

[His lusty loins are fairytale
that I, mere mortal, lack]

And this last time upon a time
     you take yourself away …

You grind your way
      to your wonderland
            minus motherhood,
                 marriage,
                      and me.

Geezus if this be true

It really sucks big time. Some of my best friends oh man I don't even want to think about it. I know the hurt is depresing and devistation. The moaning and crying alone oh man I am so sorry this has to happen to good people. Someone once said "the good guy always finishes last" it didn't stop me from trying to be that good guy. Rest, recoup, re-gather, Truly, Mark

Long ago ... thank heaven

Thanks Mark, Yes it is true, though thankfully it happened long ago, and this was one of the 3 poems I wrote to unburden myself. Sadly, it wasn't the worst of it - my dear wife [she eventually confessed] had a series of affairs - all except one with people who were colleagues and friends ['were' being the operative word] The other 2 poems are TOMMY THUMB'S ADVENTURES and AFTER ALL if you're curious. Still I found that being single again had its advantages ... after I'd learned to repair my devastated self-esteem. Mike

One of my 2 Wives

Now ex wives (and during different eras lol) did this to me and the thing that hiurt the most was she was so ill that my love turned into that of taking care of her only. Found out after the marriage that she had beeen trying to "do" herself since she was 14 and tried 4 times when she was with me. (would get delusional and eat every pill in the house) In devorse court she looked at me and asked confused - why are we here? Even more strange she asked for the devorse 4 times. I arranged it after finding her with a friend. hmm what a mess! But being single again is wonderful - yup for sure ! Ya still love her and ya still gotta say good bye - by yourself, and that sucks. I have an older poem about this I think I'll type it in. Truly, Mark

I found that poem wow it's old lol

Her being sick would be cause for me to get worn down taking care of her to the point one of us needed to be taken to the hospital - not me :) http://www.neopoet.com/node/6223 Mark

*From a piece written long ago...Fée Cassée...Please Please Please forgive the French it is very very rough... “Words have stolen my breath As the others have stolen my wings My heart was captured by monster Yet broken by the one for which it sings And I cry a fairy's tale for no one to believe Still the fiend heard and ran to aid This fairy princess, exiled, left to grieve Though it was the monster that took me away I fought for your loves sweet repose And though I lived through horrors untold When escape found me at your gate, you held it closed…” All too often you let go of a love so true because you don’t feel you deserve it and in turn you find someone more “suited”. Excesses mean little to the broken and everything to the damned. Your words have left me speechless and broken a part of my heart that has been hard for awhile…bravo poet! "For every shadow, no matter it's depth, is threatened by the morning's light..." <3 Emarie

Broken Fairy!

Wonderful title, and a great poem to follow. I can't comment on the French version - most of my competence in that language is in spoken French {I'm told I have a distinct Provencal accent - due to interaction with my daughter's host family during an exchange scheme!] so - thank you for the translation also, and I can see how the concept connects with my piece. A broken fairy ... yes there is definitely something in that. Mike

It is so unfair

That someone can tear us apart and reduce us to scraps of our true selves. I've been there and done that in a different way, but I understand every word of this poem. Thanks to Mark for directing me this way. ~ Ronda

Thank you … though

Thank you ... though hopefully the re-building process has made a better man. At least I like to think so, despite the early days not being good [e.g. as in PANDORA'S BOX] http://www.neopoet.com/node/5598 Thanks again and to Mark also. Mike

Published ...

Thank you - but I've only had one poem [NOSEGAY] http://www.neopoet.com/node/5191 published in an anthology 'Eyes of the Poet' - partly by accident - I submitted because I thought it was for an ONLINE anthology!! Mike
