QUITTING

QUITTING Smoke-free spring—cleaned air: Carcinogens excluded, I crave my foggy friends.

-------------------------------------------

I quit smoking after 50 uninterrupted years on September 27th last year. I used no 'props' - just stopped. I've not suffered particularly, though I dearly miss the excuse smoking gave me to sit and do nothing, other than converse with friends who were not continually bitching about smokers. I have found no substitute for this as yet.

nothing

Nothing like a convert aye? For some reason I need to be in a place where I will be arrested like a long airplane flight and two weeks at the folks house where I would not put the sticky stuff on their luxurious walls or anywhere. But thwe tough part is when I come back home to the same enviroment of me the smoker. I would rather live in the unreal or vacation than the back to reality place. Congratulations Mike you have willpower ! Mark a point among infinite points in the circle am I

Willpower?

Thanks Mark - though I'm not too sure about the willpower. It's a question of decision [or it was for me]. Quitting wasn't the hard part, staying quit still is - not because I miss the cigarettes but because I find the constant vindictive carping of anti-smokers [as opposed to non-smokers] at best tedious and at worst unbearable. Here in the UK smoking has been banned in all indoor public places - including pubs and bars [sacriledge!]. Well, OK I see the reasoning - but you know what? The anti-smoking fascists are now complaining about people smoking outside these places. Even when I smoked I only did so outside on the patio or in the garage in inclement weather. One tenant even complain to his/her local council about the neighbour's smoke from the garden next door and the complaint is being investigated. There are even suggestions that smoking could be banned in one's own home on the grounds that visitors could be offended. I respect the views of non-smokers [after all I'm one now] - I just wish so many wouldn't be so damned sanctimonious. Oops, sorry! better get off my soapbox now! Iechyd da [Good Health - Welsh] Mike

make sure you brush your teeth

because if your bad breath offends me I will submit a bill for law lmao Mike where will it end? You know there is a movement to ban drinking coffee in a car and smoking and anything that cold conceivably distract a driver - stop that ! don't you know it is against the law to scratch your head????? Oh man there are elections comming very soon here and a growing movement to vote for the one who will not make more laws and is not afraid to repeal an existing law - bless that man ! Mark

Amen!

to "bless that man" -- So many so-called problems would just go away if certain existing laws were repealed, and SO much taxpayers' money would be saved! Probably billions of dollars! Reverend Bec Hudson Shine Your Light It's the ONLY Way to Get Rid of the Darkness!
