A WIND OF HOPE

Here and now,
hanging loose along a wall
scented geraniums, green and tangled:
distant heartaches, green and tangled

Far behind her eyes
her mind flutters in the wind of her hopes
like tomorrow's washing.

Watching the child
she sheds the years, and oh but oh
the journey back.

Seasonless, the rain
is a prophet, not of Spring, nor of Autumn
but of tears.

Nearby heartaches, green and tangled:
scented geraniums, green and tangled
hanging loose along a wall,
there and then.

Written for my mother as a kind of reply to her poem - though sadly I didn't see it until after her death:

Dimpled hands clutching at my heart-strings
Now grown big, creeps beneath my elbow
Guiding me through life’s highways

Remember, son, I love you well
So remember me in the dead of night
As we went hand in hand through life

Now they are gone and in their place
Nothing but despair: but, at least,
There are marks to show that I passed through

Ok… too late I have fallen

Ok... too late I have fallen in love with the poet and child in you. But the man, yes... the man? Yours, Anna "The way you make love is the way God will be with you." Rumi
