The Journey

One step starts a journey

I’ve been traveling a while,

I have no transportation

so walking’s my style;

we all have expectations

I’m no different in that regard,

but I made no plans for loneliness

and that grade has been so hard.

I planned not for the seasons

much to my chagrine,

and sometimes it gets real cold

on the outside, looking in.

I did not chart a course

so many times I have been lost,

losing loved ones and posessions

I factored not, into the cost.

It’s been nice to sit and rest, awhile

but I must be moving on,

I must find my destination

before the roads are gone.
