Farewell to you

Farewell to you

I gave you my love

I gave you my heart

I gave you my trust

You tore me apart

You tossed me aside

When things got tough

You decided to hide

When things got to rough

You decided it’s better to run

Instead of staying together

You thought going away was the answer

Did you think of the future?

Did you consider what you were

Throwing away, just casting aside

When you decided to hurt

to destroy, by running to hide

Now it’s far too late

For a love, once whole, now broken

For love once thought to be fate

For words of love left unspoken

Time heals all hurts

So they always say

But nothing can seem to erase

This emptiness that will always remain.

To say good bye to us

So formally, so very cold

So business like with no fuss

To treat it as if it had grown old

At the end of the day

I guess it had slowly faded to gone

Effortlessly diminished, drained, gone

Good bye sweet love good bye
