Hauntings of a different color

Hauntings of a different color

Images of times come and gone

Play themselves out in her mind

Regrets take hold of her heart

And after all this time, pain still rips her apart

She feels torn in two

One part still cares, still worries

While the other wants to erase all traces of you

From her heart and from her soul

For as we all do

When we enter another’s life

We become a piece of their heart

And we add color to their soul

In most instances it brightens

This person from the inside out

But when you entered her life

The only color you added was black

A black which slowly darkened

Her soul, and instead of becoming

A piece of her heart, as others do

You became the knife that ripped it to shreds

And yet there is that small part of her

That still wonders about you

How you are and what you do

Are you happy and cared for?

It is these thoughts and feelings

She needs to put to an abrupt end

For you are now foe, and will never again

Be referred to or seen as friend

Rest assured she will move on

You will no longer plague her thoughts

And once all trace of you is gone

She will truly realize how hard she has fought!
