It means you have a little in common with George Washington, Ahmad Shah Durrani, Sir Henry Parkes, Jawaharlal Nehru -- the people who built the framework of their countries.

You are here to help build this community. You have a voice --

We are pleased to officially announce the Advocates Election Committee. The AEC is responsible for running the Advocates program as well as helping to set the policies that drive this site. And the AEC will slowly take on additional responsibility with time.

But we need your help. This is the first online poetry community to be ran by its membership. Please join us in the forums to talk about how this group will be structured. As a Founding Member, you have a right -- and perhaps an obligation -- to lend your voice to this discussion.

Read on for a taste of what's under discussion at the moment...

Suffrage: which members get to vote on electing new AEC members? Do we allow everyone -- those who have contributed a certain amount -- or those who have been here a certain length of time?

Rules: How long do AEC members stay in office? Forever? Do we allow "recall" referendums? Or have certain terms? How do rules get made -- and changed?

Censorship: Are we a site for adults? Or for everyone? What is to be allowed on this site? And if somebody oversteps the boundaries, do we kick them out immediately? Or should we have a specific warning process?
