the cruisers

at the ship’s buffet
on a sun, sunny day,

the tourists took
a long, long time

to plate up their food
and stow it away—

whate’er it was they
could assimilate.

but olive them ate;
then those cruisers joined

a long, long line
to evacuate …

aft which they joined anew
the very same queue

at the ship’s buffet
on that very same

sun, sunny day.
