Being a part of the Neopoet Community is a positive experience. To receive constructive criticism and praise makes the lonliness of the long distance poet more bearable! Plus I get to read the wondeful poetry of my fellow poets, which is inspiring! At last I belong to a worthwhile band of poets; which sadly I am unable to find here in Liverpool, England.
Before I was struck down by cancer I had been an active member of the poetry performance scene, and enjoyed some remarkable times. Unfortunately, their is a downside to the live circuit; and that is poets with EGOs!!! They were a NIGHTMARE!!! Tantrums, tiaras and thrown poetry books!!! I myself suffered at the hands of these EGO orientated poets, they saw me as a threat because I had self belief without the need to belittle anyone. I refused to join there gang! I refused to take myself too seriously. Yes, I take my poetry seriously, writing is important to me, and always will be; but I refused to become a bitch poet!!!
This has been a therapeutic which has been born from my heart.
