to blink or not to blink

if these old eyes

did not indulge

in blink,

by now, lo! these

past too many years

that I have spent

in old Algiers—

and working hard at Sears—

a lot I would

not have missed,

I think.

this is a young mans poem

it says a lot about your spirit, Chuck. I remember well, and like you (I think) still feel that in any sleep or blink I miss what might save us or take us to the brink. oh dear, I missed the "not" in "not have missed," I get you almost wrong again and I can just hear you chuckling cheers, Jess

here at neopoet

a day or two feels like ten years. It's only been a day or two since I read a poem of yours and I feel like I need therapy, methadone, and some shlock treatment! But I'm starting to feel better already...

Mark, I love your ...

play on shock/schlock with shlock. whether planned or unplanned, or on purpose or by accident, I'll assume it was not only intentful ... but credibly purposeful. Yours, Chuck
