Loch of a Thousand Whispers

She lies a mirror, reflecting the world.
A dazzling patch, eclipsing  the landscape.
Not stirring, for the briefest measurement in time.
So many myths, acted out on still calm water.
So many loves lost, so many sleeping lifetimes.

The Arc of a ruined cathedral.
Leaded windows long gone into history.
Remnants of a former glory.
Shelter for many long disillusioned souls.
Set on a voyage of never ending reappearance.

Loch sitting gazing ponderously end to end.
Mother appraising, all before her reverence.
Skirling of pipes softly blanketed in mist.
A lasting scripture, to a vanished age.
Awe inspiring, in your creation, a sleeping giant.

Brave men once fought and died, the water turned red with their blood.
Many maidens tears drenched, the moorland, surrounding the embankment.
Across your waters, sailed homeward bound souls.
Tidings of joy and victory brought, binding men with their loved ones.

Wild fowl grazing in leafy brooks, wildlife of mystery.
Eagles swoop from skies hidden, then are swallowed, back into whence they came.
Catching surface fish unaware, then they suffer there plight.
Bountifully providing the almighty servants with the grace of your life.
Never turning nor rejecting to help those who hide their secrets.
With you beside you, and in you.

Majestically sitting enthroned as natures miracle.
Moonlight dancing its serenade on your surface.
Stars cast as diamonds, on your cloak of black velvet.
Loch of a thousands whispers never trade your enigma
